Our Story

The Lalonde Family Initiative program was founded in 2022 by grandchildren of Omer and Yvonne Lalonde. The program was created in honor of our parents who attended St. Lawrence Central school and were an important part of the tradition of athletics and service to community. They, along with the future generations, continue to support the spirit of athletic engagement and leadership in the North Country community.

The Lalonde Family Initiative was inspired by the belief that sports create a connection between individuals, education and the community. And we strongly believe that scholastic athletics fosters a tight and positive bond between North Country citizens and that participation in athletics provides an opportunity for kids to enhance their discipline, perseverance, teamwork and leadership skills that will last long into a happy and successful adulthood.

The Lalonde Family Initiative has over the past year, focused on enhancing access for St. Lawrence Central high school students to athletic equipment and opportunities for participation in sports. Additionally, the initiative is funding college scholarships for student athletes who are outstanding citizens in the community and embody the values of this program.

A key objective of the initiative is to encourage participation by students in scholastic athletics. Our long-term goal is to enrich and help expand access to sports throughout the broader North Country community.

Our Mission

Promote the development, growth and advancement of scholar athletes and recreational athletics in the greater Tri-Town area through various financial support mechanisms, targeting new and/or improved equipment, training and spaces.
